Iriel D. Hopkins is the System Director for Community Relations and Diversity at Summa Health. In this role Iriel develops and implements community relations and diversity initiatives. Iriel manages and corresponds with multiple community and municipal contacts on behalf of the System. Iriel contributes to the system?s efforts to ensure the Summa name and presence is visible in select markets and in the community. Iriel represents the system at events and meetings deemed high priority as well as network across public, private, and community leadership who are committed to elevating Akron, its residents; businesses and the region. Iriel manages all aspects of system diversity, inclusion and equity planning. Iriel compiles workforce, cultural competency and demographic data for the system to advance the business goals of Summa Health. Prior to her work at Summa she served as the Program Director for Summit County Public Health?s Office of Minority Health and is known for her dedication to improve the health status of communities with the greatest needs. She is committed to public policy, program evaluation, and strategic planning that has led to transformational results in the community. Iriel has a passion for empowering underrepresented groups and has worked with local agencies and organizations to provide health data and assistance working to reduce health disparities. Iriel has the ability to motivate and mobilize individuals to be innovative in outreach strategies to engage individuals to reach better health outcomes. She is a frequent speaker on health inequities and organizational inclusion strategies. Ms. Hopkins has spent many years cultivating relationships in the community and with professional organizations providing social services. A native of Akron Ohio, Iriel holds a Bachelor's Degree in African and African American Studies from The Ohio State University and a Master?s Degree in Social Work with a macro-practice focus from The University of Akron. Iriel is a Licensed Social Worker. She currently resides in Akron, Ohio, and is a member and volunteers through Phi Delta Kappa Sorority Inc., Project GRAD Akron, Guys and Gals Community Partnership Inc., Summa Women?s Board, and serves on the Board of Directors for Bright Star Books Inc. as the Vice President.
